Hi Brian here, are you surviving the lockdown? Here we are, now into the fifth week in the UK. There have been may people furloughed or laid off. This has resulted in many businesses being closed down, particularly in catering and hospitality. Let us have a look at some ways of surviving this, both physically and mentally, especially for your business.
What’s been happening?
Well, I have been furloughed until the end of May. Given me an opportunity to get out into the garden and do some tidying up.
Here is the front garden, all weeded, pruned and the driveway has been power washed.
The back garden is a work in progress. There is a cypress tree on the right with a lot of brambles underneath. Ivy has invaded the back fence.
Still quite a bit to do in the back garden – and the rain has started after a month being dry.
I have also been keeping my hand in with some coding courses. By refreshing my Python skills in particular.
Surviving The Lockdown
Lets have a look at some resources and activities that can be pursued whilst in lockdown. But, first off a resource for information about the virus.
Information about the Corona Virus
First off, here is a resource on the corona virus pandemic (or Corvid-19 as it is now called). Barb Ling & Dennis Becker’s ‘Corona Virus Resources at a Glance Cheatsheet‘ is still available (and you can get it it for free) and you can click here to check it out. Well worth checking out as there is no cost to you.
Physical Activity
We have been advised that we can go out once a day for exercise, we go for a walk or cycle ride. There are plenty of places to walk away from the roads. There is also a park with two lakes as well.
It is very important to get out were you are allowed, at least for some fresh air and a change of scene.
If you can’t get out check online for some training / exercises so as to keep up your mobility.
FREE Book offers: Business and Marketing
Education is one activity that you should be maintaining, a prolonged period is an opportunity not to be missed. There are many free PDFs on offer, whilst no cost to acquire (apart from your email address) they still have to be downloaded and placed on a suitable device. Personally I like to have a hardcopy, giving me more freedom over how I read, and able to annotate. But, that means printing it yourself, making sure you have the paper and ink, and the time.
My favourite is the ‘Free + shipping offer’. You can often get the hardback cover version of the book for a small packing and shipping charge. To virtually anywhere in the world. Here are some of my favourites:

Google has a digital marketing course for free as well https://learndigital.withgoogle.com/digitalgarage/course/digital-marketing

There is really no valid excuse, make the most of your time in the lockdown. Look after your well being, get plenty of fresh air and exercise. And do some training, for fitness work or your job.
