Are you on track with your business: 10 Questions to decide
Hi, Brian Jowers here again, spring is definitely on the way. My last post was about having now decided on your strategy, then you need to implement the plans you have made, check it out here. Read on as I have 10 questions that you need to ask yourself to see if you are on track with your business.
What has been happening recently?
The work routine continues but as spring time approaches so the other half is looking at me starting the decorating routine. Looks like the hallway, stairs and landing are the initial target. Going to need a good plan.
Mum has just had another fall, apparently she had slipped getting out of the chair. Nothing serious, but shook her up quite a bit. Somehow it seems to have made her more aware and taking notice.
So, what are these questions?
Here is the 10 questions you need to ask yourself. If the answer to all questions is a profound YES, you are probably well on your way to making a successful business.
On the other hand, if the response is NO to a question, then you need to follow the solution, or your chances are slim.
So here we go…..
Question 1: Are you treating your business like a business, working at least 10+ hours per week?
Before you start screaming Yes, Yes, Yes, that’s me just think about it. I am not referring to time spent checking emails, Facebook or some other newsfeeds. I mean actual productive time, at least 1 hour per day, 5 or 6 days a week AND getting actual work done?
The solution here is quite simple. Treating your business like a business. I have to work a 9 to 5:30 day. I wake up daily, go to work, then I arrive home. There’s no questions about it, there’s no “I got visitors, I’m tired, I got other plans”. I would get sacked, I must work in order to pay the bills.
Well your online business is no different. If you want that extra 10K per year (or however much you want) you must go to work, if you don’t, you won’t get paid.
I have a work plan, time set aside during the day and evening, when I get the important tasks completed and anything else that needs to be done in the business, which brings us to the next question.
Question 2: Do you have a blog?
Setting up a blog is quite straight forward. Log into your hosting website dashboard, install WordPress and pick a free theme (there are reasonably priced premium themes available). Put together a logo, you can design it yourself for free in a few minutes. Nothing fancy is required. It’s never going to be the deciding factor.
The biggest issue people have with blogging are:
- they don’t know what to post
- they think it’s a waste of time because they can’t get traffic.
If the answer to questions 3, 4 and 5 is yes you’ll see that free traffic is easily available.
With regard to the question of content:
- The first post can be an introduction to the blog and what you plan to share on it.
- How you started out, where you are now
- Another post can be product review
- A further one could be about something that’s currently trending in social media
- Another could be just solid advice on the topic you are teaching about.
